The Problem

You've been told your entire life to "just focus," "try harder," and "be more organized." You graduated near the top of your class, you've built a career, you're objectively intelligent—but somehow, the systems that work for everyone else feel like fighting a dragon with medieval weapons.

Because they are.

The Origin Story

I'm Guy Finley. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 50 years old.

Before that? I was "lazy but smart." "So much potential if you'd just apply yourself." I dropped out of USC despite being handpicked for honors programs. I climbed the corporate ladder, then got demoted because I couldn't manage routine. I filed for bankruptcy three times—not from reckless spending (well, a bit, “retail therapy” makes for a great dopamine hit and if you just get that next shiny thing everything will be right with the world), but from project-driven obsession and optimism bias that told me I'd "make it up later."

I had what looked like success, punctuated by spectacular crashes that I couldn't explain.

The diagnosis at 50 wasn't relief—it was rage. Fifty years of being told I was the problem, when really, I was using the wrong manual.

The Philosophy Shift

Western ADHD culture treats your brain like a medieval dragon—a beast to conquer, cage, or slay. Productivity gurus sell you weapons: time-blocking, reward systems, prioritization frameworks. All built for neurotypical executive function.

Eastern philosophy sees dragons differently. They're wise, powerful, and unpredictable—forces to harmonize with, not defeat.

The Firehose Method™ reframes ADHD from warfare to cultivation. Your brain isn't broken. It's an interest-based nervous system that thrives on novelty, urgency, challenge, and connection—not importance or delayed rewards.

Stop trying to slay your dragon. Learn to ride it.

Who This Is For

The Firehose Method is built for late-diagnosed, high-IQ adults (35-65) who:

  • Were called "lazy but smart" their entire lives
  • Excel when interested, freeze when bored
  • Have a history of "failure close to success" or “snatching defeat from the jaws of victory” on a regular basis
  • Struggle with traditional productivity systems
  • Experience emotional flooding, time blindness, and project-driven obsession
  • Are done forcing their brains into neurotypical molds

If you've spent decades thinking you were the problem, you're in the right place.

What We're Building

The Firehose Method isn't rehab—it's revolution. This isn't about fixing you. It's about giving you the owner's manual you should have gotten at birth.

We're building:

  • SORT System™ — A daily navigation tool designed for ADHD dopamine pathways
  • Dragon State Tracking — Understanding your energy cycles (Hunting, Cruising, Exhausted, Hyperfocus)
  • Anti-Shame Tools — Practical systems that eliminate guilt and embrace your wiring
  • Dragon Rider Community — A space for people who get it, because they live it

My Credentials (The Real Ones)

I don't have a Ph.D. in neuroscience. I have:

  • 50+ years of lived ADHD experience
  • Three bankruptcies and a divorce from untreated symptoms
  • A successful recovery from alcoholism (3+ years sober)
  • Decades of trial-and-error building systems that actually work for my brain
  • Deep research into ADHD neuroscience, Eastern philosophy, and interest-based nervous systems

I'm not a guru. I'm a Dragon Rider who learned to fly the hard way—and I'm sharing the map so you don't have to crash as many times as I did.

Let's Ride

If you're tired of fighting your brain and ready to partner with it, you're home.
